I AM: A Mission Log
Guardians of Destiny, Book One · Hard science fiction / biblical retelling
Everyone knows the story of Moses. No one has read it like this.
Kindle & Paperback · Available on Amazon
He was placed in a basket as an infant and pulled from a river by a princess. He grew up inside the most powerful empire on earth, became its finest builder, and threw it all away over a single act of conscience. He spent forty years in the desert learning to be someone else. Then a voice called him back.
Moses believes completely that he is answering the call of God. He is not wrong.
I AM: A Mission Log tells the story of the Exodus (the plagues, the crossing, the forty years in the wilderness, the mountain) through the eyes of a man who experiences every moment of it as divine calling, lived in full faith and without reservation. Moses is not naive. He is not blind. He is a former military commander, a master builder, a logistics mind of the first order. He understands what he is being asked to do. He does it anyway.
Running alongside his story, in classified entries that the reader sees and Moses never does, is a second account. The language is different. The concerns are different. The perspective is colder, more precise, and deeply aware of everything Moses is not. Where Moses experiences miracle, this second voice records something else.
The two accounts never speak to each other. They run in parallel from the beginning to the end, and the tension between them, between what Moses experiences and what the reader is allowed to see, is where the book lives.
I AM: A Mission Log is the first volume in the Guardians of Destiny series. It is a book about faith and about the nature of miracles. It does not resolve the question of whether those two things are in conflict.
“He made Moses real.”
